General information
This SweetMeet privacy policy applies to everyone who uses the SweetMeet dating app and website. Dating app privacy matters because you share personal details to meet people, so we explain in plain English what we collect, why we collect it and what control you keep.
“Personal data” means any information that identifies you or can reasonably be linked to you, such as your name, photos, age or the way you use the service. Please read this policy together with our Terms & Conditions and our Cookie Policy.
The short version: you decide what goes on your profile, other members see only what you choose to share there, and we share your information with third parties only in the cases listed in this policy. SweetMeet is for adults aged 18 and over.
Who we are and how to reach us
The company responsible for your personal data (the data controller) is identified below. Use these details for any question about this policy or about how your information is handled.
General contact: [email protected]Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run SweetMeet and to help you meet compatible people. Some details are required to create an account; many others are optional and entirely up to you.
| Type of information | Required or optional | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Account details | Required | Username, password, name, gender, age |
| Profile details | Optional | Photos, interests, a short bio, what you are looking for |
| Support messages | Only if you contact us | Your message, attachments, our replies |
| Device and usage data | Collected automatically | Device type, app version, pages and features used |
Account creation data
To create an account you provide, at a minimum:
- login credentials: a unique username and password;
- basic details the service needs to work: your name, gender and age.
Optional profile details you choose to add
You can enrich your dating profile with photos, interests, personality traits, your outlook on life, preferences for the kind of people you would like to see, and a short description of yourself. None of this is required, and you can edit or remove it whenever you like. It becomes visible to other members only to the extent you add it to your profile.
Sensitive information you volunteer
Some details you may choose to share, for example about your orientation or beliefs, can be considered sensitive. We do not ask you to provide them. If you add such information to your profile, you do so voluntarily, and we process it only on the basis of your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time by removing the information or contacting us.
Support conversations
If you contact us for help, report a profile or send feedback, we keep the content of that conversation and any details you include so we can resolve the issue and improve the service.
Device and usage data collected automatically
When you use SweetMeet, we automatically collect technical information such as your device type, operating system, app version, language settings, IP address, log data and how you interact with features. This helps us keep the service working, secure and easy to use. Some of it is collected through cookies and similar technologies, described in our Cookie Policy.
Data from social login
If you choose to sign in or register with a third-party account, we receive the basic information that account shares with us, such as your name and email address, according to the permissions you approve with that provider. Signing in this way is always your choice.
How we use your information
We use personal data only for specific purposes, and each one rests on a legal basis. Here is how that works in practice.
Providing the service (contract)
- Creating and managing your account and profile.
- Suggesting people based on the preferences you set, and handling likes, matches and messages.
- Responding to your questions and support requests.
- Sending service messages, such as account notices and security alerts.
Safety, fraud prevention and improvement (legitimate interests)
- Reviewing reports, blocking abuse and detecting spam, scams or fake accounts.
- Keeping the service secure and investigating suspected violations of our Terms.
- Understanding how features are used so we can fix problems and make SweetMeet better.
- Protecting our legal rights and defending claims.
When we rely on legitimate interests, we weigh them against your rights and expectations. You can object to this kind of processing as described under “Your rights and choices”.
Optional features and marketing (consent)
Where you have agreed, for example to optional features, non-essential cookies or promotional messages, we use your information for those purposes. You can withdraw consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of what we did before you withdrew it.
How long we keep your data
We keep personal data only as long as it is needed for the purposes in this policy, or as the law permits. Information you provide at registration and while using SweetMeet is kept while you remain a member.
When your account ends, we delete or anonymize your data. To protect member safety and security, we apply a short safety retention window of 30 days after account termination, which helps us investigate reports and abuse.
We may keep certain information longer when this is necessary to meet legal obligations, such as responding to law enforcement requests or resolving disputes, or on the basis of legitimate interests like security and fraud prevention.
Your rights and choices
As a SweetMeet member you are a data subject with the following rights:
- Access: ask for confirmation that we process your data and for a copy of it.
- Correction: ask us to fix inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Erasure: ask us to delete your data (the “right to be forgotten”).
- Restriction: ask us to limit how we process your data in certain situations.
- Portability: receive the data you provided in a structured, machine-readable format.
- Objection: object to processing that is not based on your consent.
- Withdraw consent: change your mind at any time where we rely on consent.
These rights are not absolute, and some depend on legal conditions being met. For example, we may be unable to erase certain information straight away if we are legally required to keep it or need it to handle a safety matter.
To use any of these rights, write to [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to a data protection regulator in your jurisdiction.
You can also manage much of your information yourself by editing or removing profile details in the app at any time.
Keeping your information secure
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data against loss, misuse and unauthorized access. Access to personal data is limited to people and providers who need it to do their work.
No online service can be completely secure, though, and we cannot guarantee absolute protection. You can help keep your account safe:
- choose a strong, unique password and do not share it;
- think before sharing contact details or financial information with someone you have just met online;
- use block and report tools if anything feels wrong;
- contact us right away if you suspect someone has accessed your account.
International data transfers
SweetMeet and its service providers may process your data in countries other than the one where you live, and those countries may have different data protection rules. When we transfer personal data internationally, we put appropriate safeguards in place, such as contractual protections, so that your information remains protected.
Service providers and third-party links
We work with carefully chosen providers who help with hosting, customer support, analytics and advertising. They may access personal data only to perform services for us, under contract and in line with our instructions.
SweetMeet may contain links to other websites or services, including app stores and social platforms. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their privacy practices, so please read their policies before sharing information with them.
Age requirement
SweetMeet is for adults aged 18 and over only. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we learn that an account belongs to a minor, we remove it and delete the related data, subject to the safety retention window above. If you believe a minor is using SweetMeet, please report the profile in the app or write to [email protected].
Changes to this policy and contact
We may update this policy from time to time as SweetMeet or the law changes. If we make material changes, we will let you know in the app or by email before they take effect, and we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
